Decision-making performance was assessed through video by 3 elite umpire coaches who reviewed free-kick accuracy during each match. These data were further analyzed according to the position (mid-zone or end-zone) of the umpire when each decision was made. The average distance covered was 10,563 ± 608 m, of which 1,952 ± 494 m was HSR. Significant reductions in distance covered were observed during the third (p = 0.006) and fourth (p = 0.001) quarters, compared with the first. An average of 44 ± 8 free kicks awarded per match with a decision accuracy of 84 ± 6%; however, there were no significant differences (p > 0.05) in these measures across a match. Significantly (p ≤ 0.05) higher physical (HSR; relative distance) and decision-making requirements were observed within the mid-zone. The current data quantify the physical and decision-making demands of AF umpiring and demonstrated that despite a high physical workload, free-kick accuracy is maintained across a match. This suggests that decision making may not be directly compromised by the intermittent running demands of AF umpires. Positional rotations between the mid-zone and end-zone position allow for the demands to be shared among all field umpires during a match.]]> Wed 11 Apr 2018 15:32:45 AEST ]]> Young children's use of ICT: preschool teachers' perceptions and pedagogical practices in Shanghai https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:15715 Wed 11 Apr 2018 14:15:58 AEST ]]> Artefacts and affordance: the surface of meaning https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:3536 Wed 11 Apr 2018 12:59:29 AEST ]]> Building information modelling: what is in there for the architects? https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:4280 Wed 11 Apr 2018 12:47:33 AEST ]]> Drink-driving and perceptions of legally permissible alcohol use https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:346 Wed 11 Apr 2018 10:55:34 AEST ]]> The influence of asthma control on psychosocial outcomes for pregnant women with asthma https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:26397 1.5 at randomization and ≤1.5 at end of study) and unimproved (ACQ7>1.5 at end of study). Regression models were fitted for each psychosocial measure at the end of the study, with adjustment for baseline values and smoking status, with predictor variable asthma control. Results: Women with unimproved asthma had poorer physical (SF12, p=0.012) and asthma-specific quality of life across all domains (AQLQ-M, p≤0.012) compared to women with controlled asthma. They believed that they had less control over their asthma (PCAQ total p=0.014), had more symptoms and that their illness had a greater effect on their emotions and their lives in general (BIPQ identity, consequences, concern, emotional response p≤0.015). Women with improved asthma control had significantly lower AQLQ-M breathlessness (p=0.048) and lower total scores (p=0.04) than women with controlled asthma. Conclusions: Pregnant women who are not able to get control of their asthma symptoms may experience worse quality of life and are likely to have more negative perceptions about their condition.]]> Wed 11 Apr 2018 10:20:12 AEST ]]> Climate risks and vulnerability: Is fishers' perception appropriate for their livelihood vulnerability? https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:42939 Wed 07 Sep 2022 15:02:22 AEST ]]> Knowledge and perception about climate change and human health: findings from a baseline survey among vulnerable communities in Bangladesh https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:29640 p < 0.001). The majority of knowledgeable participants (n = 3645) felt excessive temperature as the change of climate (83.2 %). Among all the respondents (n = 6720), 94.5 % perceived change in climate and extreme weather events. Most of them (91.9 %) observed change in rainfall patterns in the last 10 years, and 97.8 % people think their health care expenditure increased after the extreme weather events. Age, educational qualification, monthly income, and occupation were significantly associated with the knowledge about climate change (p < 0.001). People with higher educational level or who live near a school were more knowledgeable about CC and its impact on health. Conclusions: The knowledge level about CC in our study group was average but the perception and awareness of CC related events and its impact on health was high. The most influential factor leading to understanding of CC and its impact on health was education. School-based intervention could be explored to increase peoples’ knowledge about CC and necessary health adaptation at community level.]]> Wed 06 Apr 2022 14:04:05 AEST ]]> Psychosocial variables are related to future exacerbation risk and perinatal outcomes in pregnant women with asthma https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:14595 Wed 04 Sep 2019 11:33:48 AEST ]]> Human face tilt is a dynamic social signal that affects perceptions of dimorphism, attractiveness, and dominance https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:39875 M = 31). Stimuli varied in head pitch angle, eye gaze, and motion/static appearance. Participants rated the stimuli for levels of masculinity, femininity, attractiveness, and dominance. Both studies confirmed that pitching the face upward at incrementally increasing angles resulted in a linear increase in ratings of masculinity, physical dominance, and social dominance and a linear decrease in ratings of femininity, physical attractiveness, and behavioral allure. Study 2 showed that these effects can be dependent on either the perceived structural change of the face or the actual movement of the face, and these are different for each rating category. The perceived dimorphism, attractiveness, and dominance of a face will change dependent on the angle of pitch it is presented but also whether it is moving or not, where it is moving in space, and what direction it is moving.]]> Tue 28 Jun 2022 14:47:02 AEST ]]> Urban teachers' perceptions of inclusion of migrant children in the Chinese educational institution: a comparative study https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:26962 Tue 27 Mar 2018 15:45:47 AEDT ]]> Breathing life into a character: conceptual tools for understanding the relationship between illustrator and character design https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:29461 Tue 16 Oct 2018 11:26:28 AEDT ]]> A Unified Theory of Discrete and Continuous Responding https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:51631 Tue 12 Sep 2023 20:07:36 AEST ]]> A Tale of Two Theories: A Meta-Analysis of the Attention Set and Load Theories of Inattentional Blindness https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:51454 Tue 05 Sep 2023 18:15:08 AEST ]]> Perceptions of carotenoid and melanin colouration in faces among young Australian adults https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:34433 Tue 03 Sep 2019 18:17:07 AEST ]]> First-impression bias effects on mismatch negativity to auditory spatial deviants https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:30396 Tue 03 Sep 2019 18:01:23 AEST ]]> Stakeholders' perception of the relevance of water and sediment connectivity in water and land management https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:41370 Tue 02 Aug 2022 15:06:26 AEST ]]> Consumer perception and behaviour related to low-alcohol wine: Do people overcompensate? https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:41148 5·6/7). The mean consumed amount across all conditions did not differ (162 (sd 71) ml, (F2,86 = 0·43, P > 0·05)), hence people who tasted the low-alcohol wine consumed approximately 30 % less alcohol. However, participants were willing to pay more for the normal wine compared with the low-alcohol wine, (F2,87 = 3·14, P < 0·05). Conclusions: Participants did not alter their drinking behaviour in response to the reduced alcohol content, and the low-alcohol wine was perceived positively.
